Welcome to our Internal Training Wiki!
This is where you'll learn everything you need to know about how to run UPSC.
Getting to Know UPSC
UPSC was founded in 1995, and is one of the oldest student organizations at York University with a rich history.
However, by 2016 UPSC became dormant and lost our status with the University because old Executive Teams failed to effectively share information with new Executive Teams and train them.
In 2016, Kevin Noguera, Nyma Malik, and Spencer Maurice rebuilt UPSC from the ground up.
This online training manual is intended to be a simple, accessible, practical guide to teach future Executive Teams how to run UPSC efficiently and effectively, and ensure that UPSC does not become dormant again.
Our Objectives
Events! We get to do fun and educational events like invite guest speakers, host discussion panels, workshops, courthouse tours, overnight trips (like the Ottawa Trip that we started) and social mixer events that get students to come out, connect with each other, have fun, and learn something new!
Professional Development. Post about internship opportunities on our social media and website so that Politics students can apply! Help each other level up in our careers.
Academic Support. When students (especially first year students) ask us for help, be a good listener, show them how to access university resources, and connect them with professors and staff in the Politics department.
Represent! Be a voice for undergraduate students at Politics department meetings. Give the department feedback to help them make better decisions about courses and academic affairs.
